RU OK?

10/09/2014 By Frances Koulos Leave a Comment

Thursday September 11 2014 is RU OK? day when we are encouraged to ask others how they are. Please show some genuine interest in another person.  You might be surprised that the person who looks as if they have no care in the world is actually struggling.  You might even be the one who is asked RU OK?  What will you say?  Will it be the type of answer you give the supermarket operator?  You know what I mean.  The superficial quick response that is really  a lie.  Every customer going through the checkout is “fine thanks.”  Statistically and logically that cannot be true.  On Thursday there will be many people who are not OK including perhaps you the reader.  Give yourself permission to be honest in your response.  Respect the person who is asking by giving them an honest answer.  Let your guard down.  If today I was asked RU OK? I would say “Not really as my back is strapped and I am hurting.”  On Thursday my reply might be “Yes I am OK.”  The inner child in me wants all to be able to answer “I am more than OK.”  September 11 is the perfect day to give yourselves a little check.  If you assess yourself to not be OK or if you are OK but would like to be more than OK then take the next step and call My Psychologist to help you move from not OK/OK to more than OK.  And ask me about my back when I meet you so I can reply “it’s great and thanks for asking.”
