Psychologist Fees and Appointments
My Psychologist in Adelaide is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and uses the APS recommended psychologist fees as a guide. Whilst the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for a standard 50 minute consultation in 2017-18 is $246.00 (plus GST, where applicable), our fees for appointments are currently set at $180 per standard consultation.
My Psychologist provides a high level of personal service so the psychologist fees that you pay includes more than a face to face psychology consultation and that represents great value for your money.
My Psychologist also offers longer consultations as part of our Couple Connect Counselling service. The fee for a longer 90 minute consultation is currently $250.
Psychologist fees for Assessment and Report Writing
We offer a number of psychological assessment and report services. They are listed below.
Learning and Intellectual Assessments Psychologist Fees
Our Psychologist fees for a standard learning and intellectual assessment is $880. This fee allows for up to 4 hours of work that includes assessing the client (sometimes over a number of appointments), reviewing documentation, preparing results, writing a report and discussing outcomes with the client or their carer.
Depending on the needs of the client, this fee may be reduced or in the matter of more complex needs be increased. Questions relating to the set fee can be discussed directly with My Psychologist prior to making an appointment.
Medico-Legal Matters Psychologist Fees
My Psychologist’s medico-legal reports are comprehensive and informative. Psychological fees payable for work injury and Motor Vehicle Accident psychological assessments and reports are set according to the current ReturnToWorkSA psychological fee schedule.
In medical negligence and common law personal injury matters, fees payable for such medico-legal assessments and reports will be based on the current recommended psychological fee set by the Australian Psychological Society.
Vocational Assessment Fees
My Psychologist normally undertakes vocational assessments for clients on injured at work and fees are set according to the current ReturnToWorkSA psychological fee schedule. We can offer this service to private clients as well but do ask that you contact us so we can discuss your needs.
We offer specialist psychological treatment in Adelaide for both adults and children. Our psychological treatment approaches are tailored to your presenting mental health concerns and goals, and the psychological services you require.
Sessions are generally 50 minutes in duration. Rebates may be available through Medicare and your Private Health Insurance to cover a reasonable part of the fee. You should see any gap payment as a worthwhile investment in your health.
Please discuss your mental health concern with your doctor to see if you are eligible for referral under a mental health treatment plan under the Medicare Better Access Initiative. If you are eligible you can claim a Medicare rebate (currently $84.80) by attending at a Medicare office with your psychology consultation tax invoice or you can mail the invoice to a Medicare office. If you provide your banking details to My Psychologist, she can claim on your behalf with Medicare for you to receive an EFT payment of the rebate into your bank account.
If you are claiming a psychology fee under your private health insurance fund, you will need to take in the tax invoice to the local branch or mail it to your fund’s office in order to receive your rebate. For peace of mind, please contact your private health fund for the amount of rebate that you will receive prior to your psychology consultation.
Psychologist Fees Payment and Cancellation Policy
Payments are to be made on the day of appointment unless agreed to otherwise by My Psychologist. Payments can be made using cash or by electronic funds transfer (EFT). We can process Medicare rebates online which will enable you to receive a rebate direct to your nominated bank account in 1-2 business days.
Cancellation of appointments with less than 24 hours notice will attract a cancellation fee equal to the full fee of your consultation. Failing to attend without notice will incur the same fee which will be deducted from the supplied credit card account. Any waiver of the fee for a cancelled or non attended appointment will be at the sole discretion of My Psychologist.
Psychologist fees not paid by due dates will attract late payment charges if new invoices need to be generated.
Reports will not be released without prior payment.
