Legal Practitioner Information
We have developed this legal practitioner information page as a guide to highlight the services we can offer.
We are able to provide expert medico-legal assessments and comprehensive reports for a variety of reasons.
We are always looking to form new referral relationships with solicitors who share our values. These include providing a high quality professional service that caters for a claimant’s personal and specific psychological needs.
My Psychologist is experienced in providing informative and comprehensive psychological medico-legal reports in matters relating to personal injury. ReturnToWorkSA, medical negligence, victims of crime are some examples. Vocational, cognitive and memory assessments can also be undertaken.
We pride ourselves on developing and maintaining close working relationships with solicitors, case/claims managers, rehabilitation consultants, employers and treating practitioners (medical and allied health).
We provide expert opinion about psychological disorders (using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition) arising out of injury. We can recommend treatment, comment on stability of injury, permanent impairment and impact on activities of daily living and work capacity.
It is not uncommon for people to have Anxiety and Mood Disorders following an injury. These can include Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and Somatic Symptom Disorder.
It is sometimes wrongly assumed that physical injuries do not have associated psychological symptoms. We will assess and provide recommendations to help the injured person improve their mental health and wellbeing.
We are always happy to start a new referral relationship with solicitors who share our passion to deliver individualised, expert, friendly and complete care.
If you require any more than this general legal practitioner information regarding the solicitor referral process or medico-legal psychological assessment, please contact My Psychologist on 0427 277 237 or by emailing questions to info@mypsychologist.net.au
